H-O-U-S-T-O-N PT. 1

My first day visiting Houston was very chill. We got to the hotel, unpacked, and set out to run errands (aka explore). We ended up in the nail salon at Wal Mart and thus the revelations began.

I began talking with the nail technician about life, normal nail talk. But then we got on the subject of college. She asked the general questions. "Where do you go to school?" "What's your major?" "What do you plan to do with your degree?" I answered each question but my answer to her last question shocked even myself.

"What do you want to do with your degree?" Nothing. That was my answer. My purest, most genuine answer, nothing. Her face was so unforgettable as she asked, "But isn't that a waste of money?"

I replied no and I broke it down like this for her. I have attained knowledge that I would have never gotten had I not gone to college. I have had experiences, friendships, networks, and opportunities practically thrown in my face because I went to college. So no, it is not a waste. But I realize that purpose overrides practicality. It casts down the fear of "sticking to the plan". There is not a thing that I would take back. I am content with my college journey, I have found myself because of it.

Good night guys!
