DENTON ARTS AND JAZZ FESTIVAL

HEADER PHOTO CREDIT: TAY PLUMMER

This weekend I went on an artistic adventure in downtown Denton, Texas. Every year Denton hosts its Arts and Jazz Festival and I always seem to miss out! But not this year. I made it my priority to get out and see another side of this small town. Much to my surprise it was VERY VERY packed!! Like it was not what I expected at all.

First of all, I live in Texas. On any given day it could be summer and winter, at once. But Saturday was actually a really, hot, lovely day! That's besides the point though. Let's get to the point.

Once inside the Festival my inner child came out! I was like a kid in a candy store amongst all of this art and talent. You know we all have that one thing that makes us feel like we are Disney World all over again. Art is that for me! It felt so amazing to see someone else's  creativity come to life. But most of all it reminded me of the quality time I'd spend with my family in the summer as a kid. It took me back to my happy place and I needed that.

In the art expo building I met a sweet older man named Ernie. Ernie is an artist that specializes in abstracts and figuratives, he also does commission art as well. He had the most beautiful Black art that I think I've ever seen. Most of the pieces were Jazz inspired and so unique. Below is a photo of one of his paintings, if you are interested you can click the picture for his website.

After I left the Festival I stopped by one of my favorite places in Denton, Recycled. Recycled is the most amazing thing I've found in this city. It is a resell bookstore that has so many hidden treasures between it's four walls. In the spirit of the Arts and Jazz Festival they had a really cool sign with a really sweet deal at the door!

This was perhaps one of the best days I've had in awhile, I really enjoyed myself. I look forward to exploring all of the artists that I met at the festival!! Here is a list of some of these talented people.
